What about the role?

As a Software Engineer at Hedvig, you’ll play a key role in building a scalable, high-performing insurance platform that serves hundreds of thousands of members. Our R&D team supports many areas of the business, from ensuring our claims handlers can work effectively to delivering a world-class user experience for our members.

This means engineers at Hedvig tackle a wide range of challenges while working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders. Whether optimizing backend performance, refining user interactions, or scaling infrastructure, you’ll be solving real problems that impact real people. We work with a modern stack consisting of:

- Back-end services in Kotlin using Spring Boot

- Web with Next.js and Vercel

- Native mobile apps in Swift and Kotlin

- Federated graph with GraphQL

- Micro-service architecture

- Hosting on AWS

What about you?

You’re a software engineer with strong CS fundamentals and excellent problem-solving skills. You take ownership, embrace challenges, and thrive in a team that values collaboration over ego. You aim high without playing it safe. For you to thrive in this role, we believe you:

- Have solid CS fundamentals and can apply them to solve real-world problems

- You have a Bachelor or Masters degree in computer science

- Are comfortable working across the stack and picking up new technologies when needed

- Take full ownership, from identifying problems to delivering solutions
